Benesse Art Site Naoshima

"Benesse Art Site Naoshima" is a collective term for Benesse Corporation's contemporary art activities in Naoshima, Kagawa. There are Benesse House, Art House Project and Chichu Art Museum.

Benesse House (Museum,Oval)

Benesse House is a core facility of Benesse Art Site Naoshima, opened in 1992 with the theme of "coexistence of nature, architecture and art". This building is designed by Tadao Ando.Benesse House provides accommodation facilities and has a gallery space of modern art.

Benesse House (Park, Beach)

Park is the largest accommodation in Benesse House, offering superb views of the beautiful Inland Sea from each of the 49 guest rooms. Park features a restaurant and cafe exclusively for guests, as well as a spa and shop in the connecting building on the ocean side. Art House Project

Art House Project initiated by Benesse Corporation has used the town of Naoshima as a stage. Artists remodeled old house in the district of Honmura, transforming the space of each house into artwork open to the public.

Chichu Art Museum (Managed by Naoshima Fukutake Art Museum Foundation)

Chichu Art Museum was established in 2004 as a site to rethink the relationship between nature and people. The museum built in the earth, managed by Naoshima Fukutake Art Museum Foundation, is located on the south side,one of the highest points of Naoshima. The artworks of Claude Monet, Walter De Maria and James Turrell are installed permanently within the building that Tadao Ando designed.
